The drone video (below) can be used in conjunction with the map (under) to give a visual guide to the quality of remnant Wet Tropics rainforest scheduled for clearing to allow road, water and other infrastructure access to the Myola Valley – the site of Reever and Ocean’s residential subdivision development.

This forest is Cassowary Essential Habitat. New roads through rainforest – no thanks.

The Rural land under the subdivision footprints (pink) is currently regarded as ‘low-impact’ Rural – retiring historical grazing pasture.  Kuranda Region is known as poor quality agricultural and grazing land.  The same land however, is highly rated as Wet Tropics Bioregion grow-zone and forms a central passage of the critical north-south ecological corridor of the greater World Heritage Wet Tropics Bioregion.  The rainforest will return naturally if left alone. Within 20-25 years the forest will become Essential Habitat for EPBC Act, Matters of National Environment Significance, buffer 10km of SITE, -16.828320, 145.600551, specifically 49 Threatened species including two endemic species, Kuranda Tree Frog and Myola Palm (located on the SITE), and 626ha of useful Cassowary (Keystone Species) habitat.
