  1. How will you ensure there is no repeat of sediment flows to the creeks, river and reef that we saw last wet season? If the sediment erosion controls are not yet in place, please advise when they will be.
  2. What do you propose to do with the uncompacted dam wall which released sediment and filled in a seasonal creek which contained frog habitat? Given the wet season predicted, we are very concerned the sediment will reach the lower reaches of Owen Creek, The Barron River and The Great Barrier Reef.
  3. How and when will you replace the required vegetation buffer to the creeks where you have already cleared within the buffer distance?

Site visit on 1 September 2016Simon Danielsen, Cathy Retter and Bruce Wannan from Envirocare, Syd Walker, Steven Nowakowski – showed clearing to creeks under 10m in places.

  1. Simon Danielsen’s November 2015 report – see excerpt below – says “Vegetation buffers of 60m will be retained adjacent to all waterways, meaning all waterways will have 120m corridors after clearing is finished.” Please explain how / why clearing is under the specified amount, as per the documentation.
  2. What measures will be put in place to mitigate unpermitted clearing of riparian buffer zones in the future?
  3. Provide an indication of when these cleared riparian buffer zones will be replanted and the species that will be used for replanting.

  1. How do you propose to change your golf course master plan to ensure the fairways do not require any clearing of protected creek vegetation buffer, as indicated in your KUR-World promotional video? *see point 3
  2. How will you ensure that the nutrient runoff from the golf course will not pollute the creeks?
  3. Advise the water allocation required, and where the water will come from, eg. bore water, to irrigate the cattle operation, market garden, landscaping, golf course, etc., as proposed on the current KUR-World master plan.

Our community groups see these issues as urgent, and therefore in need of an urgent response from the KUR-World team, to ensure that going forward the impacts on the Barnwell land-water are minimised.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Your response will be added to this page for community consideration.
